Why study at Banksia

Our small class sizes allow for a personalised approach and a level of learning support not common in higher education. Banksia is private higher education provider offering accredited postgraduate courses in Emotion Focused Therapy. We operate with high levels of academic integrity and excellence. Our small class sizes allow for a personalised approach and a level of learning support not common in higher education. There is plenty of opportunity in our workshop/webinar learning environment for everyone to get involved in the discussion, to debate issues and to practice advanced skills in a secure, respectful, and safe way.

Our teaching staff have professional experience in the subjects they teach and are current in their knowledge of relevant trends in Counselling and psychotherapy generally and in emotion focused work for individuals and couples specifically.

We recognise that sometimes the student journey can be confusing, and the road is not always straight, that’s why we have support staff on hand to deal with any bumps in the road and to offer the best advice we can.

Many of the degree subjects can be taken as part of a CPD Program, allowing those interested to refresh or extend their knowledge. As well as being led by an experienced facilitator, participants often find enormous value in the networks which emerge from taking part in the CPD Program.

We, at Banksia, look forward to inspiring and supporting your learning and professional success.

Student Engagement

At Banksia, a key objective is to provide an exceptional student experience; every student will feel that Banksia’s staff genuinely cares about their progress. BIA’s teaching and learning system will focus on developing those skills and the outcomes required to be able to apply the new learning to the workplace. Students will graduate with state-of-the-art strategies for thinking about and resolving problems in their professional environment. All students will be challenged to learn as a result of the expectations placed upon them,

the quality of teaching staff and the learning materials they engage with.

Students will be impressed with the high quality of the support and scaffolded materials that will be available online via the Learning Management System

Staff-student communication systems are designed to be flexible and diverse so that students have multiple opportunities to engage with key staff. Being a small institute ensures that students are given individual attention in a ‘student centred’ environment. Students will have access to a range of support services including academic, social, and well-being to ensure they remain engaged in their studies.

Student Success

At Banksia we want all of our students to succeed whether you are studying a degree course or taking a CPD subject. Our focus on your success starts from when you initially think about studying, through to getting started on your first subject and all the way through your learning journey to graduation!  As a small organisation we will work one-on-one with you at every point along the way to ensure that you are making the best choices to meet your needs.
On that journey we provide you with exceptional learning resources, teaching, and services to support you and your study ambitions.

We recognise that, for some, balancing life, work, and study can be a challenge but with our flexible delivery approach and a flexible timetable we can work with you to find a solution when life gets uncertain. There is rarely a study related problem that can’t be solved, so  just contact our team to discuss what can be done.

When you have achieved your own success we hope you will stay in touch and give professional practice insights to help support the learners who come after you.

Learning and Teaching

All blended teaching delivery will be student focused and inclusive. All students will be engaged with learning activities which are interesting, challenging and varied. This will be supported by a well-structured and readily accessible Learning Management System for all students.
Additional learning opportunities will be available periodically as webinars with visiting professionals from relevant areas of professional practice. At Banksia we greatly encourage the nurturing of the reflective practitioner.

Our aim is to support our students to develop excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills; to be strong communicators, orally, in writing, and in public; to be empathic, resilient, independent and well organised; to value teamwork, and understand how to contribute to teams; to be able to make informed decisions, choose from options, and deal with ambiguity and conflicting priorities; to be community focused and understand the value of community to wellbeing and finally to be well networked with industry to support your on-going success
